I think in the past someone attempted a generic EMDB volume downloader but was unsuccessful at the time.
A user has requested this feature, and seems okay with the limitations of the MATLAB implementation.
What I am thinking is just to implement something that will attempt to download a volume and emit a warning that the symmetry group and pixel size (if not in the volume header) may not be set. That would allow a user to access the volume in their scripts if they care/want to be responsible for those other details.
We should continue to map requested molecules with their groups/pixel size as they come up though.
