Topic Title

Efficient ticket handling along the supplychain as part of Business Operations

Topic Overview

With the rising speed in Software and System Development an efficient handling of incoming inquiries is relevant to avoid delays in the supply chain. Adequate processes within the organization need to be combined with a clear communication interface for providing unambiguous coordinates for traceability to avoid iterations.

Problem Statement or Opportunity

The ISO5230 [1] requires in section 3.2.1. a clearly defined process for inquiries. There are other norms like the ISO20000 [2] that define an IT Service Incident Management in more detail.
If the inquiry doesn't refer to a concrete unique identifier e.g. for the SBOM or a Disclosure Document for a specific product, the organization internal identification of the concrete object to be investigated becomes more difficult. In case of third party supplied components or transitive dependencies, this can lead to iterations that delay the effective response to the inquirer.

Potential Outcomes

  • Best practice guidance
