Pen model: HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen
Kernel: 6.19.8-arch1-3-surface
Desktop env: sway
I'm getting erratic touch and pen behaviour when the pen is close to the screen - it constantly seems to be switching between drawing and erasing in Xournal++ and seems to be constantly clicking and unclicking (middle-click in firefox for example) in other applications.
As soon as I hold down one of the buttons it switches into a normal mode - if I press the button near the tip it switches to eraser and stays there and if I press the button that is further from the tip it goes into drawing mode or seems to follow similar behaviour to middle mouse button.
When let go I get this in libinput (small snippet):
event256 TABLET_TOOL_PROXIMITY +1.391s 231.27*/135.55* tilt: 40.02*/-20.96* pressure: 0.00* pen ('<unnamed>', 0, id 0) proximity-in axes:pt btn:S event256 TABLET_TOOL_AXIS +1.408s 230.95*/135.33* tilt: 40.02 /-20.96 pressure: 0.00 event256 TABLET_TOOL_BUTTON +1.408s s331 (BTN_STYLUS) pressed, seat count: 1 event256 TABLET_TOOL_AXIS +1.425s 230.76*/135.76* tilt: 40.02 /-20.96 pressure: 0.00 event256 TABLET_TOOL_BUTTON +1.440s s331 (BTN_STYLUS) released, seat count: 0 event256 TABLET_TOOL_PROXIMITY +1.440s 230.76 /135.76 tilt: 40.02 /-20.96 pressure: 0.00 pen ('<unnamed>', 0, id 0) proximity-out event256 TABLET_TOOL_PROXIMITY +1.458s 231.30*/136.00* tilt: 40.02*/-20.96* pressure: 0.00* eraser ('<unnamed>', 0, id 0) proximity-in axes:pt btn:S
I have tried adjusting ButtonMinMag but that seems to be doing nothing.
Any ideas?
