Most engineers meet their users through analytics dashboards. I meet mine in person, then go build what I saw.
At Welile I work across engineering, product, and field growth — building software, launching products, onboarding users, and turning real-world friction into systems that scale. Welile is building toward financial identity infrastructure for Africa, starting with rent and expanding into other everyday economic behaviours.
I work at the intersection of engineering, product, and growth. I don't write software and wait for users to arrive — I help take products into the market, watch how people actually use them, and build around what I learn.
At Welile that means working on systems touching real money, real businesses, and real households. The core platform helps tenants access rent support, landlords receive rent upfront, agents distribute the service, and partners participate through structured platform programmes. The longer-term direction is to turn everyday economic behaviour into trusted financial identity data that can unlock opportunity across Africa.
The engineering challenge is therefore bigger than building screens. I think about data integrity, transaction flows, reconciliation, identity, permissions, mobile-money integrations, auditability, and operational tooling — while still caring whether a real person can understand and use the product.

What I build
|
What I run
|
66,000+ users across the Welile ecosystem, spanning multiple products that serve different parts of the customer and operational journey.
Building financial identity infrastructure, starting with rent. Welile is a technology-enabled rent platform that helps tenants access upfront rent payments, landlords receive rent on time, and users build a verified history of their financial behaviour. The longer-term vision is to transform everyday economic activity into trusted financial identity data.

The platform is moving from a single rent product toward a broader set of financial and asset-related services.
| Product | Role in the ecosystem |
|---|---|
| Welile | Core rent technology platform connecting tenants, landlords, agents, and partners |
| Welile App | Mobile-first tenant experience for rent support, repayments, and account services |
| Welile Receipts | Digital receipt and payment-record experience supporting verified transaction history |
| Welile Car | Vehicle-services product line — a web platform for service management and records, plus a React Native companion app for owner profiles, maintenance history, and service workflows |
| Welile Drive | Save-to-Own vehicle platform combining a digital wallet, vehicle inventory, savings milestones, and financing workflows |
Internal products — repositories may be private or limited in scope.
| Project | What it does | Stack | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tenant Portal | Responsive interface for tenant and property management, replacing the spreadsheet-and-group-chat workflow most small landlords rely on. Built from the same field observations that drive my work at Welile. | HTML CSS JavaScript |
Web |
| Password Generator | Browser-based generator for cryptographically strong passwords with configurable length, character sets, and exclusion rules. Runs entirely client-side — no password ever leaves the device. | HTML CSS JavaScript |
Utility |
| Password Generator Mobile | The same generation engine ported to mobile in TypeScript, with a touch-first interface and clipboard integration for on-the-go credential creation. | TypeScript React Native |
Mobile |
| Sudoku Game | Playable Sudoku with a constraint-propagation and backtracking solver — an exercise in algorithmic problem-solving and recursive search. | Python |
Algorithms |
Deliberate practice repositories — where I work through fundamentals before applying them in production code.
| Focus | Repository | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Python | Python Core Concepts | Data structures, OOP, file I/O, standard library depth |
| Web | HTML & Web Fundamentals | Semantic markup, layout systems, accessibility, responsive design |
| Data | Data Extraction Utilities | Scraping, parsing, transformation, and validation pipelines |
| Algorithms | Programming Challenges | Complexity analysis and problem sets across common patterns |
| Area | Why it matters to what I'm building |
|---|---|
| Advanced TypeScript | Generics and discriminated unions that make invalid payment states unrepresentable |
| Distributed Systems | Idempotency, exactly-once semantics, and reconciliation across unreliable payment rails |
| Backend Architecture | Service boundaries and caching as transaction volume grows |
| Cloud & DevOps | Containerized deploys and CI/CD so releases stop being manual events |
| Growth Engineering | Instrumentation and funnel analysis, so field intuition gets checked against data |

I'm interested in conversations about:
- Engineering roles — full-stack, mobile, or backend, on teams shipping to real users
- Fintech and financial identity — particularly mobile money, payments, and financial inclusion in emerging markets
- Product-and-growth engineering — where engineering, distribution, and firsthand user knowledge reinforce each other
- Open source — contributions to tools I use, especially React Native and TypeScript
- Technical mentorship — in both directions
