dmxt/README.md

Hello! I’m Dana. I'm based in Miami, Florida.

I'm an UX/UI designer with development skills. I have over 19 years of experience in design and 17 years in web development.

About me

My design journey began in 2006, when I started designing, as a hobby, with Photoshop CS2. By 2009, I started web development to get some of my hobby projects done. By 2014, I had become a professional freelancer.

My specialization is user experience and interface design for sites, logo and branding work, as well as design for mobile and desktop.

I'm experienced in languages and frameworks such as HTML, SCSS, PHP, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Python. I've dockerized some repositories with Docker. I've written tests for projects. I've built custom themes for a CMS platform.

For hosting, I like DigitalOcean, Netlify, and AWS depending on project needs. I manage my DevOps pipeline through the terminal to keep deploys quick.

Teaching

From 2014 to 2017, I tutored my friend Michael, who started out with no real computer knowledge. He was working part-time for below minimum wage when he reached out and asked if I could teach him my trade. He had exceptional motivation, working through every lesson on an entry-level Windows netbook. After three years, he became a freelance web designer and developer.

Today he's the CTO of a company he first joined as a designer and developer. He met his goals, fled his home country, and now lives in a European country of his dream with a beautiful wife. I couldn't be prouder, I really did change his life for the better.

I have documented my experiences and insights in a blog post.
